Annual General Meeting
On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, Access Communications held its 51st Annual General Meeting (AGM). As a community-owned, not-for-profit co-operative, the AGM plays a vital role in our operations, fulfilling our reporting obligations to members and delegates.
The meeting featured several key components, including the presentation and approval of the previous fiscal year’s audited financial statements, a review of organizational accomplishments, and the election of new and returning board members.
During the meeting, our audited financial statements were approved,. President and CEO Carmela Haines delivered a comprehensive report highlighting Access’s achievements over the past year and outlined our strategic direction for 2025.
We proudly shared that Access achieved strong financial results in Fiscal 2024, with revenue exceeding $91 million. This success enabled us to expand our network, connecting more people and communities, while continuing to offer upgraded products and services, cutting-edge technology, and exceptional customer care.
One highlight of the year was our groundbreaking initiative: the acquisition of Regina’s only community radio station, CJTR, approved by the CRTC in December. This move makes Access the first organization in our industry to integrate two mediums for community programming, reinforcing our commitment to innovation and local expression.
For a detailed overview of our accomplishments, we invite you to explore the 2024 Annual Report, Connecting People to the Possible, available here.
Delegates at the AGM re-elected Gina McGinn and Regan Beck to three-year terms on the board. Four new board members were also elected:
• Deborah Charles, CEO, Missinippi Broadcasting Corporation
• Trina Clairmont, Financial Systems Analyst, The Corner Office CFO
• Ngee Cau, National Accounts Manager, Grainger Canada
• Brian Wright, Retired Vice Principal, Estevan Comprehensive School
The meeting also featured a year-in-review video celebrating our collective achievements through community engagement, which can be viewed below.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our success in Fiscal 2024. We look forward to continuing to connect communities and empower people in the year ahead.
