Scholarship Purpose

The Access Communications Doug Alexander Scholarship Program to encourage and reward students who volunteer their time in order to improve their communities.

Our program recognizes students for their capacity to lead and serve and their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities.

Our Scholars are well-rounded, bright students who not only excel academically, but are also actively involved in their communities and their schools. These students are passionate, service-oriented, and demonstrate a commitment to their community.

Awards

Access Communications will award up to 20 scholarships of $1,000 to graduating students in Saskatchewan who are planning to attend post-secondary school at either a technical college or university.

Eligibility

Applicants must be grade 12 students graduating in 2025.
Applicants must be attending post-secondary school starting in Fall 2025.
Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents residing in Saskatchewan.
Applicants must reside in an Access Communications service area.*
Current Access Communications Co-operative board members and staff, and their siblings, children, and grandchildren are not eligible for our Scholarship Program.

Selection Criteria

Applicants demonstrated record of volunteerism in the community in non-school sponsored activities.
Applicants demonstrated participation in extracurricular school activities.
Applicants demonstrated leadership skills.
Applicants demonstrated academic achievement.
Applicants demonstrated must have the endorsement of their school guidance counsellor or principal.

Application Requirements

To be considered for an Access Communications Scholarship, you must submit the following no later than Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 11:59 PM:

Application form, activities summary, and statement of accuracy
Acceptance or conditional acceptance letter from a technical school or university
Letter of recommendation from volunteer organization
Most recent High School transcript (a photocopy is acceptable for the application)
Grade 12 grad photo in JPEG or PNG file format (may be submitted later)

Before you begin filling in your application

We strongly recommend using a text document to draft your application. Your progress will not be saved unless the application is submitted in its entirety.
Download the Statement of Accuracy and Statement of Support document here. Please fill it out and attach it below before submitting your application.
You must upload an acceptance or conditional acceptance letter from a post-secondary institution.
You must upload a letter of recommendation from a volunteer organization.
You must upload a copy of your high school transcript. (a legible photocopy is acceptable)
You can upload a Grade 12 yearbook or Grad photo in JPEG or PNG format. ('Cap and Gown' photo is preferred.)
The deadline for this application to be received at Access Communications is Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 11:59 PM.
